Hi. I’m Chris, nice to meet you.
I'm a midwestern kid, born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan. I left after high school, spent years chasing adventure and building a career, and eventually came back to raise a family of my own in the place that shaped me.
I've spent more than a decade inside residential real estate, starting as an unlicensed assistant, becoming an agent, helping build a team from the ground up, and eventually moving into content, strategy, and marketing at a national level. That path matters because it means I understand this industry from the inside. Not as an observer. As someone who has done the work.
Today I serve as Chief Marketing Officer at The Mitten Group, a Michigan-based brokerage, where I work alongside agents every day. I also publish The Playbook, a professional development resource built for working agents who want straight answers and practical strategy. And on this site, I write commentary, analysis, and opinion for the agents who take the industry seriously enough to think critically about it.
My work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Bankrate. I speak at conferences and events across the country on marketing, leadership, and where this industry is headed.
When I'm not working, I'm usually outside. Fly fishing, working the yard, or keeping up with my wife and two daughters, who have inherited our family's love of travel, adventure, and music. I read constantly. I have strong opinions about Star Wars. Our chiweenie Abe runs the household.
If you want to follow along, you can find me on LinkedIn and Instagram. If you're interested in having me speak at your event or contribute to your publication, I'd love to hear from you.
